This home used to be a duplex before Good Bones' Mina and Karen reconfigures the entire first floor, removing walls to create an open floor plan and reworking the home's front entrance. When they put the home on the market, they not only staged the home with stylish, modern furniture, they had local artists display their work for the open house. This stunning bathroom design pairs black-and-white, geometric tiles with crisp white walls and lots of natural light. The corner shower is enclosed by a metal and glass door with two shower heads and a marble bench. Outside the shower, a round white soaking tub sits on marble tile floors with a rectangular window overhead.
When he's not entertaining for groups of up to 300 people, Michel Boyd keeps his dining room spare and neat. But when staging dinner parties, "I like to set a table," says Boyd. "I like to junk up the table," with accessories and other elements, "you're creating a moment," says Boyd.
A little color goes a long way in this predominantly gray dining room. Two white pendants illuminate the dining table while a pair of floor lamps flank a colorful abstract painting in vibrant oranges and blues. Staging with fresh flowers and bowls of colorful fruit bring additional splashes of color to the room.
Staging a room to compliment the view can be difficult at times. This large l-shaped sectional creates a sight line that's low enough to capture the view while providing enough sitting for entertaining. Soft grays and whites magnify the large windows while the subtle pops of color enhance the picturesque view.
This neutral contemporary living room features a curved standing lamp, gray sofa and decorative, colorful sofa pillows. "Tom understands how to be inspired by something beyond its surface quality and creates a tailored and restrained elegance in the staging of his selected furniture and accessories in the exact same way a tulip is tailored and restrained," said Vern Yip, judge on HGTV Design Star.
Design-wise, former HGTV Design Star contestant Tera stands by her motto "taking what you have and making it better," but she has grown a little more daring. "I'm definitely more open now to bringing in color and a more contemporary style in my design and staging business," she says, a shift illustrated in this colorful teal blue bedroom with black and white accents.
An expert in salvage-picking, Nicole prides herself on being able to renovate and stage a home on a tight budget. Many of the furniture pieces she uses for staging are donated, salvaged from previous renovations or unique garage sale finds, as seen on DIY Network's Rehab Addict.
The original fireplace brick was painted white and shiplap paneling with a natural wood mantel was installed. The living room is staged with French Country accessories, books, and bright linen window treatments.
This ornate and sophisticated dining room celebrates wine with an illuminated alabaster grape chandelier. A 19th-century bronze stag head vase serves as a dramatic centerpiece for the dining table below.
