Rich brown cabinetry brings warmth to this Mediterranean-inspired kitchen, which features a beamed ceiling, spacious island and custom window treatment. Every room in the 10,000-square-foot home is placed to capture views of the lake, and the kitchen sink is sited under a window so users can enjoy the scenery.
Incorporate metallic accents. The wall around the sink in this National Kitchen + Bath Association-winning powder room is covered in metallic tile that looks like silver leaf, a costly update. However, Arizona designer Lori Carroll with Lori Carroll and Associates, says you could get a similar DIY effect by painting the wall a darker shade, taping off squares and then using a metallic paint.
Tucked behind the foyer of a meticulously modified Mediterranean home, this elegant powder room is just what the client asked for – a “pretty little jewel box” to help visitors feel pampered. The 24-square foot space was carved out of an inefficient pass-through once connecting the kitchen and dining room. The designer created an alcove to accommodate the sink area and a vanity cabinet. The jewels include faceted crystal cabinet knobs and a sparkly chandelier for just the right amount of bling.
Because this laundry area sits between a master bedroom and an art studio, the design team at Crystal Kitchen Center wanted to make it accessible and functional for both purposes. The stained-glass window, backlit by a skylight, serves as an art piece and makes the room feel more expansive. The room is small, so a stackable washer and dryer help to conserve square footage. A staircase bump-out creates a spot for laundry baskets as well as a hanging rod, and a shelf over the sink acts as a handy supply station.
