Carving pumpkins is one of the most interactive Halloween activities, so throw your own party filled with delicious treats and whimsical decor. Korinne Seel of Swank Sweets set a playful spider web tablecloth as the backdrop and enhanced it with inexpensive paper Halloween fans. All the edibles are from the local supermarket and customized with party printables by Anders Ruff Custom Designs. Set the pumpkins on cake stands to make them the focal point of the table.
Start with a simple shelf then dress it up with creepy decor — furry spiders, black crows, plastic skulls and skeletons are all good choices. You could also drape the shelf with cheesecloth or spider webs for an added frightening effect.
The homeowners' eclectic style is reflected in this bathroom with the combination of Venetian plaster walls and subway tile. Decorative leaded windows in the shape of a spiderweb help to tie the space to the spiderweb motif throughout the home. The lake house's original vanity and mirror were restored and bring in floral detailing that complements the details found on the bedroom cabinetry, truly tying together all the home's spaces.
Problem: You see webs on your houseplants. The leaves look discolored and/or curl and drop off. Hard-to-see spider mites, which are actually spiders, are the likely cause. Solution: Knock the mites off with a gentle spray of water from the kitchen sink, or put big plants in the shower. If the pests keep coming back, use an insecticidal soap or neem oil.
