A custom stone bench was added to this white modern spa bathroom to be used both inside the shower and outside in the dressing area. The floating vanities are separated into his-and-hers areas to help it feel like a real spa-like retreat.
The adjacent built-in spa is constructed of gunite concrete and incorporates the same tile work as the pool. This spa includes bench seating that wraps 360° and ample massage jets, providing generous room and bubbles for several guests to enjoy.
After a day of sunbathing and swimming, the owners can retreat to their master bath for a little R&R. A floating vanity keeps extra towels and other essentials on hand, while the glass-enclosed shower and built-in bench create a spa-like atmosphere.
The waterfall bench connecting the makeup console and its supporting end embraces the idea of flowing water, much like that of Frank Lloyd Wright's famous Fallingwater house. Moreover, the wall-mounted faucets enhance the cascading effect of water.
The owners wanted their bathtub to be the first thing you saw as you entered the room, but the space still had to function. So I pulled the tub forward, making room for a bench in the shower behind it.
