Soaring pink stripes direct the eye up to the impressive vaulted ceilings. “I’m usually a horizontal stripes person but we chose to use vertical stripes because the room has these beautiful vaulted ceilings that should be accentuated rather than pulled down,” says interior designer Linda Woodrum.
The soaring fireplace accentuates the room's height, too, by drawing the eye up from the floor to the ceiling. Low-level furniture makes the space feel just as open and also allows for unobstructed views of the water.
Step off the elevator directly into the grand living room featuring soaring 16-foot ceilings, panoramic city views and a grand curved staircase up to the second level. Stacked windows and thin columns make the room feel even taller.
Dark accents unify this soaring open plan space from the wood beams in the vaulted ceiling to the window frame down to the black barstools. The pendant lights literally and visually help draw a connecting line from top to bottom.
An array of gray hues add warmth to this white transitional kitchen while keeping the space neutral. Honed granite countertops feel softer and more subdued than the traditional polished variety. The windows end halfway up the wall, but the Roman shades are mounted near the ceiling to create the illusion of soaring windows and a higher ceiling.
Big picture windows and an open-concept design give this cozy reading nook a clear view of the poolside patio. The beamed ceiling gives the space a rustic, homey feel, while its soaring height keeps the home feeling roomy and open.
Soaring, floor-to-ceiling windows pair with horizontal wood paneling to direct the eye toward the breathtaking lake view, ensuring natural scenery is the focal point of this living room. Furnishings are kept simple and neutral so as not to distract from the view.
A winding staircase leads down to this spacious living room. High ceilings and rich textures define the living room's majestic appearance. The furniture is situated around a soaring gray tile focal wall and fireplace. Bold patterns blend with muted colors to create a harmonious design.
The neon yellow stripes on this enormous fireplace are backlit with their own glow and reach all the way to the ceiling pulling the eye up and calling attention to the room's soaring height. Framed in by wood shelves, the adjacent large television looks small in comparison.
