The view into the dining area shows how the white painted ship lap accent wall allows the plants and wood furniture to come to life. White chairs at the ends of the table add an extra pop of style to the dining set up. Hanging succulents and indoor plants add natural life and color to the design.
The original fireplace brick was painted white and shiplap paneling with a natural wood mantel was installed. The living room is staged with French Country accessories, books, and bright linen window treatments.
The new living room in the King home is open and spacious. Walls have been removed, creating a much more open feel. Shiplap has been put in and new wood floors have been installed, as seen on Fixer Upper.
The DIY coffee table is made from a broken clock face transformed into a live edge table with hair pin legs. A white ship lap accent wall creates a white on white texture display with the unbleached macrame fiber art. A large leather sectional is decorated with a mix of patterned pillows and throw blankets. Wicker baskets provide decorative storage.
A white ship lap wall creates a bright background for the wood furniture and vibrant plant life in this dining room. Natural wood finishes bring a beautiful and cozy look to the design. Art mounted over the wet bar decorates the wall and compliments the southwestern influence in the room.
A new take on shiplap was created by having the paneling on the power room walls in a horizontal and vertical grid pattern for a fresh and modern look. “The paneling is what makes this space,” says project manager Scott Branscom.

Embrace shiplap, the wide wooden boards that have historically been used to construct barns and older homes and a design favorite of HGTV’s “Fixer Upper” stars Chip and Joanna Gaines. Allison Worley, senior designer at Atlanta's Haven Design Works, installed shiplap in her bathroom and painted it in Sherwin-Williams Agreeable Gray. Shiplap can be done as an accent wall or installed along the entire room. Haven Design Works owner Donna Mathis adds that putting shiplap or tile just behind a vanity mirror can change the whole look of a bathroom.
