Sheer curtains wrap around this elegant transitional bedroom providing privacy without blocking natural light. Furnishings are kept simple and neutral, with a gentle pop of color coming from the blue accent pillows on the bed.
This great hall is divided from the entry by thin veils of sheer linen panels for more intimacy while leaving the historic home's original architecture intact. A gilded nineteenth-century eagle bookstand greets visitors on the washed-oak center table.
A mix of textures and styles create a layered, sophisticated look in this sitting room. A dark shag rug, lucite coffee table and hand-carved chairs add visual richness and depth. Sheer curtains and a variety of lighting fixtures help to brighten the eclectic space.
In a master bedroom that was all about cozy luxury, designer Lauren Macer created an inviting seating area using existing pieces from her client’s collection. “The armchairs are vintage pieces, however they were upholstered in black leather that was damaged. I reupholstered them in a beautiful soft linen fabric for a completely different look,” she says. “When looking for vintage furniture pieces, the most important element is shape. The upholstery, wood color and the condition of the filling can all be changed — so keep an open mind and don’t let a strong pattern or color distract you.”
A geometric rug provides a pattern base to decorate the solid surfaces and neutral tones of this transitional living room. A brown leather sofa and taupe chairs face a wood coffee table with wrought iron legs. Sheer curtains add decoration to the windows while still allowing natural light to enter the room.
A boxy bedside table with glass top is decorated with a textured table lamp and glass embellishments. A semi sheer curtain shading a window behind the table adds a more matte background for the small display. Surrounding the curtain a vibrant and shiny accent wall reflects the light in the room.
An atmosphere of eccentric luxury is created in this striking library where wood panels cover the space from floor to ceiling and a red sofa and zebra print rug await visitors in the center of the room.
In this neutral, contemporary living room, the palette of soft creams and grays is punctuated by a pair of pearl pink chairs. Two separate seating areas provide ample space for entertaining guests. Overhead, a pair of modern chandeliers hang from the architecturally distinctive coffered ceiling.
