Scandinavian design features neutral colors and plenty of natural light like in this bedroom. Niki Brantmark, author of The Scandinavian Home, says, "Placing your furniture to get the most natural light and using curtains that allow the light to filter through will leave your home feeling more cozy and comfortable."
A modern, Scandinavian floor lamp adds extra light to the space and brings an architectural accent to the room while black shades create contrast but still allow soft, diffused light into the room for a natural and airy feel.
As seen on Love It or List It, Too, designer Jillian Harris was inspired by Scandinavian design for Kelly and Steve's kitchen remodel. She used clean lines, ample amounts of white, and small pops of subdued color throughout the space.
The walk-in shower includes a frameless tempered glass sliding shower door with a minimal top track and clear wall jambs for an open and airy feel, with shower walls covered in pure white vertically installed porcelain tile for a modern Scandinavian look.
The kitchen is reconfigured to showcase a central island with waterfall edges and light open shelving. Custom walnut cabinetry with brass and matte black accents keep it feeling both warm and masculine.
A white and walnut wood wardrobe cabinet with a splayed frame is located where a traditional closet once sat in the home office. “The old closet stuck out and really protruded into the room,” says build manager Dan Faires. “It was the first thing you saw.”
Neutral tones and Scandinavian-inspired furniture fill this modern living room. Framed records hang above the wall-mounted TV opposite a large navy sofa with chaise. Oversized windows let it lots of natural light and are treated with neutral, horizontally-striped drapes.
The bay window houses an elegant dining area with a sleek dining table and streamlined chairs that feature leaf cutouts. Scandinavian-inspired curtains are hung at the ceiling to add height to the room, while abstract artwork is hung in the center of each window for a chic focal point.
