This bedroom creates a lounging area by pairing a traditional slipcovered sofa with a gallery wall made up of clever, colorful, do-it-yourself art projects and straw gardening hats. With a whimsical lamp made of rope and natural light streaming through the window, this is a delightful spot for relaxation.
There's no better way to spice up an elevated floor — and remind yourself and guests that it's there — quite like the addition of rope lighting. Tucked under the underside of the raised floor, the rope stretches all the way across the room, creating a unique glow. The details and creative elements of the space are enhanced with the use of several different light sources: framing wall sconces, hanging pendants, recessed can lights, table lamps and a hidden fixture within the headboard.
With antique French and English touches, traditional design is a picture of elegance in a room nicknamed “The Classic Corner” by designer Patricia McLean for a Home for the Holidays house in Atlanta. A French gilt mirror is surrounded by antique botanical prints by Abraham Munting and Dutch landscapes with gilt rope frames. The French gilded candlesticks were wired as table lamps to give height to the cream-painted chest.
