White subway tile is used throughout this transitional bathroom for a clean-lined look. Retro-inspired wallpaper brings color and pattern to the space, while an open-base contemporary vanity is light and airy.
The Kitchen Cousins liked the look and color of the old kitchen cabintes in the Mai home. But the kitchen needed to pop and come alive. The Kitchen Cousins added sky blue retro looking appliances by The Big Chill to give the kitchen the edge and look that it needed. They also got rid of the old tile on the walls, and the old wallpaper on the ceiling. The kitchen is now brighter and more colorful than the original and has a hip new look.
There is no question this Boston penthouse's powder room salutes the eye-popping styles of the 1960s, with its large-patterned, floral wallpaper in yellow and brown. Yet, the white pedestal lavatory, lighted mirror and cone-shaped wall sconces present the look of today. All in all, it's a wonderfully designed room!
As seen on season 1 of Sarah Sees Potential, an updated dining room flows seamlessly into the living room, complementing the vintage design aesthetic with mid-century modern furnishings and decor. Neutral grasscloth wallpaper lines two walls and complements the soft yellow hue of the vintage dining chairs. A chrome and glass dining table and custom orb light fixture add contemporary flair to this otherwise vintage-style space.
The trick to pulling off this look successfully and ensuring your space looks chic and cocoon-like, but not claustrophobic, is to paint your walls a dark dramatic colour. Don’t assume you have to go for low-key white on the ceiling, a floral wallpaper is bold and beautiful, and just retro enough to have plenty of attitude.
Designer Annie Lowengart created a modern homage to her sister's orange and pink childhood room in "Smoll's Room Redux" at the 2016 San Francisco Decorator Showcase. The punchy, graphic wallpaper on the ceiling by Flavor Paper is tempered by the more traditional stylings of the headboards and armchair chair from Chairish.
Large-scale floral wallpaper sets the scene for this eclectic dining room. The marble table lends a retro vibe to the space, and the chair cushions are covered in a black-and-white abstract fabric for a graphic element.
Bold and bright patterns add personality to this eclectic bedroom. Pink paisley wallpaper is a vibrant backdrop for a pink day bed with a crochet afghan. A mustard-colored footstool is paired with a flokati rug and floral armchair to create a retro seating area off to the side.
Wallpaper with a whimsical, retro feel dresses up the sitting area in this kids' room. The bright blue ottoman and chair along with the orange patterned pillow add another layer of color to the space. Sleek, white wall shelving and window seat under-storage provide stylish and space-saving options for books and toys. A patterned roman shade allows plenty of natural light into the room.

Wallpaper with a retro feel dresses up the study nook in this boy's bedroom. The bright red desk mirrors the red in the wallpaper, while a mod white desk chair adds another layer of color to the space.
Bold, graphic wallpaper in a metallic floral print and vintage furniture, from a Victorian hot pink sofa to the 1970s yellow chair, creates a modern living room with retro appeal. A Moroccan-inspired Kilim rug grounds the space, and gold, floral and white accessories mirror the wallpaper to finish the look.
A rustic stone fireplace can't compete with the retro style in this sitting room. Graphic wallpaper and a starburst clock surround the fireplace, while midcentury modern chairs and a round coffee table form a small fireside seating area.
