The bedroom continues the home’s minimalist, earthy aesthetic, which Amy calls, “Spa Retreat.” The emphasis in this room is on linens and sheets that add a bit of blue to the sea of neutrals that define the home. The addition of shades of blue creates a more beach-centered look in the bedroom.
A wasted space in the form of a dated double height covered front door area became a newly found space with the design of this cozy space. Bookcases were built in to the awkward sloped ceiling, creating one of the kids most favorite places.
There’s something very serene about an uncluttered bedroom. The Nordic design ethos puts a lot of significance on the beauty of an un-fussy space. Decorative pillows may not be essential but they go a long way to achieving the atmosphere you desire in your bedroom. Flanigan says, "Decorative pillows tells people a lot about you and how formal you want your 'rest nest' to feel. Start with larger Euro shams in a neutral hue that serve as a backdrop for the smaller lumbar and boudoir pillows. Enjoy changing your smaller pillows on a seasonal basis for a quick and budget-friendly transformation that will adorn your bed with a fresh dose of color and texture."
