Robin LaMonte designed this bedroom featuring contrasting yellow walls and red window treatments. A French toile fabric is the foundation for the color scheme while custom drapes, a chaise and bedding complete the design.
This charming kid's room is filled to the brim with pattern. But a few key design rules keep them from feeling overwhelming: The wallpaper's light-colored, dainty pattern takes a backseat to the bolder shades and prints of the bedspread, headboard and window seat. Large sections of solid colors give the eye a place to rest.
A wooden boarder extends past the red window perimeters for an Asian-inspired feel to this courtyard area. The red outlines give a pop of color against the softer, neutral yellow of the walls. Bright green leaves from the gardens lining the concrete walkway bring the area to life leading to the home.
Previously, the eat-in portion of this kitchen contained and old, outdated breakfast nook with banquettes. The homeowners loved this unique addition to their space, but it was in desperate need of updating, so designers scaled back the walls to create a larger space for the nook, then they modernized it with a bright wall color, silver leather covering on the banquettes, a modern table and a red, modern chandelier to match the walls. To help light the space, designers added double hung windows to let in plenty of natural light, making the space, bright, warm and inviting.
Two window seats decked out in friendly red-and-white prints invite afternoons of daydreaming or curling up with a favorite book. A polka dot rug and accent pillows pull the bright color into the rest of the bedroom.
This window seat is the perfect perch for ocean gazing. Designer Tyler Karu sourced brass lights salvaged from ships. The color palette of white, blues and reds ties in with the authentic nautical style of the room.
Long windows provide a scenic view as a backdrop in this stylish sitting room. Red-brown stone flooring and a dark brick wall add texture and a distressed look to the design. Cushioned green chairs are angled into coffee tables and floor lamps for a cozy, intimate setting.
A wide wooden deck is perfect for entertaining while a matching wooden bench surrounded by container plants provides extra seating. Red window casings pop against brown raised panel shutters and match the red front door.
A red sofa shines in this transitional living room design. Striped arm chairs featuring neutral, red and blush tones help tie the red into the calm, neutral surrounding. A glass covered table with natural wood design is the perfect support for a colorful and fun coffee table display. The bay windows are framed with curtains and covered with roman shades for control of natural lighting in the room.
