A custom hammered silver headboard sits proud above the bed in this master bedroom, serving as a focal point in the space. White Sferra bedding and bench cushions provide a crisp, clean palette for lavender and gray hues in the accent pillows and draperies to add soft color to the room. White and silver cowhides cover portions of the large wool and silk blend rug for added visual interest.
Rich hardwood floors create a nice, warm contrast to the stark white design in the surrounding room. The sliding glass door is trimmed with a thick white frame and large glass panels giving it an open feel but still creating privacy for the rooms. A bright red pendant light and complimenting chair cushion shine in the room.
This captivating contemporary sofa features a high/low backrest and wood frame around the white cushion. Square patches of blue and neutral tones form the colorful carpeting. A pair of end table feature nailhead detailing over the metal legs. A red container doubles as a coffee table and compliments the throw pillows topping the sofa.
White bed linens give a crisp and polished look to this iron framed bed with light gray upholstered headboard. A delicate pastel floral pattern on the curtains encircles the bed for a feminine finish. An upholstered bench placed at the foot of the bed matches the ash gray tone of the headboard. A pair of neck roll pillows cushion the armrests.
An organic cotton duvet in a gray and white chevron pattern creates a soft cushion and stands in contrast to a red hand-blocked cotton pillow in the cozy guest bedroom of HGTV Green Home 2012. An exercise in symmetry, floor lamps with dramatic linen shades and inset wall shelves flank the bed.
Black accordion curtains blend with the black wall paint in this stylish window nook. The sleek white table grabs attention against the black walls and black wood flooring. A faux fur chair cover and a knitted floor cushion add lovely texture to the design. A globe pendant light hangs over the table decorated with fuchsia flowers and red books for added color.
Bold art prints pop against the white walls of this modern sitting space. The simple design allows the eyes to be drawn first to the art rather than the room. A black leather bench sits below the hung artwork nearing a wood accent wall with red lit squares displayed. A minimalist, three-footed wood chair sits alone in the open floor space.
Designer Jil Sonia McDonald mixes funky patterns with unique pieces to create comfortable and eclectic dining spaces. In this one, a wide window seat offers banquette seating in a dining nook. Remove the breakfast table and its the perfect spot to sit and read. A mix of throw pillows, in orange, white and solid green, and a bold orange bench cushion animate the space, while built-in drawers offer extra storage below. An orange and white chevron throw adds the finishing touch.
This beautiful, modern guest room has both style and function. With two closets in the space, this room has plenty of storage, while the elegant furniture adds to the style. Large windows allow lots of natural light into the space, reflecting off the white walls, making the space feel bright and clean. The elephant patterned throw pillows and the patterned bench cushions help to make the space feel warm while adding depth and texture to the space.
Stone crowns atop columns lead the way to a giant chess board made of prefab 2x2 concrete squares with exposed pebbles. Taking inspiration from Alice in Wonderland, designer Margie Grace of Grace Design Associates. Inc., has red roses on one side and white roses on the other. Fourth of July roses, which are speckled and look like they're being painted for the Queen, are in pots behind the benches. "If it's your fantasy, just go there," says Grace. "Don't do it by halves."
This stunning vintage white sofa is the one thing I might have tried to run out the door with. The woven upholstery fabric immediately adds an air of sophistication to a wall color that might otherwise come across as juvenile. The sleek curve of the arm that transitions into a fully upholstered leg, housing a floating bench cushion is a work of art with a clear mid-century reference. The only way to address a piece this special is to accent it with sleek black floor lamps, a classic black and white marble coffee table, and graphic drapery fabric by the talented Kelly Wearstler. I really enjoy seeing a successful relationship between the primary colors in the artwork and the tertiary wall color. Angela definitely took risks, but her artistic eye served her well.
