This small kitchen gets an updated look with stainless steal appliances, granite countertops and clean, white cabinets. The quilted tile backsplash embellishes the wall, becoming the focal point for the room.
This contemporary kitchen had limited space so the quilted tile backsplash serves as an easy focal point. Drawing the eye to the textured walls helps overlook the occasional countertop clutter that's inevitable in a small kitchen.
This quilted tile backsplash is the focus of this small neutral kitchen. The kitchen, which also serves as a dining room, is limited to using one wall of the room, so this metallic backsplash made it easy to add embellishment and distract from the small size of the contemporary space.
In the master bedroom, designers played with texture to create a modern, yet cozy space. They blended hard surfaces, such as the modern headboard and nightstand, with soft textures, like the "quilted" tile accent wall, complementary bed linens and shaggy rug, to create a space that went with the rest of the home's design while bringing comfort to the master space.
Stainless steel appliances and linear design give this small kitchen a sleek and polished look. To maximize the limited counter space, designer Gail Fedela chose a quilt-like tile backsplash to add visual appeal and allowing for clutter-free countertops.
A sturdy, traditional wood vanity features a large mirror section and built in glass door cabinets over a yellow toned countertop. White wall tile frames the glass door of the walk in shower. Interior white tile is livened with a quilted pattern on the lower half below gold molding.
Mix and match designer tiles to create a patchwork of eye-popping color. These patterned tiles create a rich color palette that feel as inviting as grandma's quilt with more of a contemporary twist. Photo courtesy of Dominic Crinson.
Neutral tones –– including a pair of chenille armchairs and a quilted comforter –– give this bedroom a relaxing feel throughout. The floor features ivory marble tiles, while the windows boast similarly-hued traditional curtains. A pair of glass paneled doors lead to the outdoor patio area.
The master bathroom is big on personality, if not on space. The concrete tile floor is meant to evoke the look of a folk art quilt. The vanity and mirror are pretty as a picture in robin's egg blue. And shiplap walls match the paneling used throughout the house.
Upper and lower built in wood cabinets bring a warmth to the perimeter design of this kitchen. The long island with neutral granite countertop serves as a dining table surrounded by wood dining chairs with white leather seat cushions. A tile backsplash gives a subtle quilt-like look between the cabinetry.
Fiona got her own space and her pick of colors — a happy place for fort building and doll playing with friends. She loves mermaids, so the sea-themed quilt (from Crate & Barrel) is a prized possession. The lavender rug is made of carpet tiles by Flor, and the framed colorful prints are from Minted.
