A marble deck and built-in wood base with decorative molding turn this whirlpool tub into a focal point in this tranquil blue bathroom. White pull-down shades offer privacy, while Roman shades in a traditional floral fabric soften the space and bring the outdoors in.
A large, white and gray marble kitchen island centers the design in this elegant kitchen. Geometric patterned tiles create a countertop-to-ceiling backsplash, drawing the eye up to the ornate hanging pendant lights that resemble flower petals. Between the cabinets, a small window brightens the space letting in natural light with an artistic pull-down shade.
Since this guest bedroom is so spacious, the designers were able to include a window seat and a built-in bookshelf in the far corner. At night, visitors can pull down the roman shade to enjoy the boho pattern and some privacy.
Marble walls surround this tub and shower in this bright white bathroom. The large soaking tub and glass enclosed walk-in shower can be made more private by pulling down white shade and closing a pocket door.
Enjoy dinner and a view in the dining room of the 2011 HGTV Green Home. This elegant space features floor-to-ceiling windows with soft beige pull-down Roman shades to help stage the mood. Fun, contemporary yellow and black high-back armchairs surround a large wood dining table and are perfectly paired with glass candleholders and a natural centerpiece that adds color and height.
This cozy cream bedroom features shaded skylights, which are a necessity for turning an attic into a bedroom. Retract the shade to keep the room sunny and warm, then pull it down for those sleeping-in mornings.
The master bathroom is just as soothing, with a large soaking tub positioned along a wall of windows. The patterned shade can be pulled down for privacy, or lifted to fill the space with natural light and views of the water.
This media room is a perfect place to snuggle in for a Netflix marathon. The large TV is recessed into a custom frame that matches the wall, seamlessly integrating technology into a beautifully designed space. Shades -- hidden under the overhang -- pull down over the large windows to darken the room.
Helen Richardson designed this country living room with bold patterns set against a bright orange couch. Vibrant hues and dark wood furnishings emit visual warmth while pale yellow walls tone down the bold sofa and reflect the softer shades visible in the area rug's floral design. Rustic decorative stars pull in the country feel in a simple and subtle way.
My client had the structural aspects of this kitchen down, the marble, the cabinetry and the bar stools but knew she needed the finishing touches to pull it all together as this is a space that they entertain in a lot and spend time with their family every day. The island light fixture was the first thing to find as we knew it would be the showstopper and main focal point of the space. We chose a piece that is both rich and contrasting to all of the white to add warmth to the space but that also has some bling to it! The rest of the softness was added through a greige paint color, geometric fabric for the roman shades and the accessories. Now it is a space that they use everyday and love!
