Glee creator Ian Brennan's living room was redesigned by HGTV Design Star winner Emily Henderson, as seen on HGTV's Secrets From A Stylist. Emily makes the fireplace the focal point by hanging a huge statement portrait of President William Harrison above it and flanking it with antique sconces. She creates vignettes around the room with accessories that reflect Ian's personality to give the space a homier feel. Built-in shelves beautifully frame a large window providing maximum storage. A white eyelet pendant light, soft throw pillows, and pouf ottoman are cozy accessories.
Let’s be honest. Haven’t we all dreamed of having a bedroom so big it could fit an entire living room in it? In a city famous for its creative use of small spaces, however, a bedroom this cavernous is likely to remain a dream for most New Yorkers. Kalyn and Todd however are making the most of their reality. Sculptural lighting, warm, textured rugs and a continued commitment to interesting art place this room firmly within the stylish context of the rest of the home. Offering nearly as much space as their living room, the couple’s bedroom is likewise divided into two spaces, the bedroom itself, and a beautiful lounge area complete with sofa, pouf and entertainment center.
Amy and Matt’s puppy, Rye, sits in repose in one of her favorite spots at home, the sofa. For Amy and Matt, the sofa's color is perfect, as dog hair easily blends in with the aesthetic. To create her peaceful, earthy look, Amy likes to blend textures in a neutral color palette and let the differences between textures bring out the variations in color. Here, a velvet sofa, a hemp rug and woven pouf all come together beautifully, with subtle color shifts and a mix of textures.
This loft space from designer Kirsten Holmstedt serves a multi-functional purpose as both a workspace and lounge. A masculine color palette paired with furniture that is robust enough for everyday use is modern and fresh. The sideboard buffet has extra storage to keep away clutter while also storing office equipment. Pouf ottomans were incorporated to create a place for sitting and lounging while catching up on sports. The addition of can lights throughout the room and an updated light fixture gives the space a fresh modern feel and acts as a cool focal point when coming upstairs.
Decatur is known for its distinct, historic neighborhoods, eclectic food, and vibrant downtown: it is not known for log cabins. My clients are the owners of this unlikely urban retreat and wanted to design a space that provided a TV-free zone to read, relax, eat, and play games as a family. This little reading nook is my favorite vignette. It is my client's favorite spot in the house. She has her morning coffee there daily. The chair was hers but the shelves were added to have storage and interest go up the wall and showcase their family pictures and items I sourced in flea markets all over Atlanta! The pouf and blanket were "must haves" from the very beginning.
