For a home set within an ancient woodland and heath in the New Forest National Park, designer Wendy Perring of PAD Studio took care to maximize the connection between the home and its surroundings, while minimizing the impact of the structure on the site. “The main living space is open-plan and designed to cater not just for the changing physical needs of its occupants but to provide nourishment and stimulus to the soul through close contact with the home’s natural setting,” says Perring.
A shady yard can still have plenty of color and texture. The stone landscaping follows the backyard's slope and is actuated with various shade loving plants such as hostas, hydrangeas and a dwarf Japanese maple. The rustic stone fire pit and outdoor seating makes this an ideal place for entertaining.
