A color-blocking strategy fills built-in shelves in this family room. Blogger Gabrielle Blair admits the wide expanse of shelving was a bit intimidating at first, but she says on her Design Mom blog, that she wanted to create a look that someone with no design experience could replicate.
To give the design in this newly remodeled bathroom a touch of dimension and pizzaz, designers created an accent wall of decorative tile. The tile was purchased from Wayfair and is called "Illica" ceramic.
For a little bit of flash going up the stairs, designers created walls out of scored concrete. Then, they installed a metallic flooring that would reflect light and help brighten up the heavy, darker space with a bit of pizzaz.
Designers created a custom beverage bar with light gray cabinets to complement the interior doors. Above the cabinets is a chalk board wall that adds a touch of trendy pizzaz, while the live edge, reclaimed wood shelves add rustic charm to the space.
Gilt details in the family room add pizzaz to the neutral, Midcentury Modern design of the space. These details create a warm feeling in the room by reflecting the natural light brought into the space by the windows that were added throughout the space.
In the hall opposite the stairs, designers paired a bold, funky patterned wallpaper with a rich dresser and gold details. The dresser anchors the design, while the gold details add a bit of pizzaz as well as connecting this space to the design of the rest of the house.
To add dimension to this front yard, the homeowners have used their steps to give the space height. Instead of adding plants of varying heights that could obstruct a direct view of the house, the homeowners have terraced their steps, and also their flowerbeds, to give their drought friendly front lawn a little extra pizzaz.
Commanding and masculine, this bedroom's outstanding feature is its accent wall, which is papered in horizontal and vertical stripe patterns. A sturdy bed with hammered upholstery feels lush and stately, while assorted throw pillows in mixed materials and tones soften the space. The zebra-print rug adds pizzaz to the formal-feeling room.
This sleek, black kitchen is a perfectly elegant, stylish and functional Midcentury Modern space. The space has plenty of functional elements, for example the kitchen island and open shelving, whose clean lines contribute to the Midcentury Modern design of the space, while elements such as the gold-lined pendant lights help to add glamour and pizzaz.
In one area of the apartment, designers added a bold, Midcentury Modern table atop a brown and white zebra print rug. Around the dining table, four copper chairs add a splash of pizzaz, while the white, fur throws add a bit of comfort. Finally, two accent pieces-the black pendant light and the triangular mirror-finish off the funky space.
The juxtaposition of the bright, white walls and large windows with the cozy fireplace and wood floors make this a room reflecting all seasons. A cozy white sofa and armchair are partnered with a jazzy, zebra print armchair -- which adds a touch of pizzaz to the space. A TV over the fireplace makes the room multi-functional; great for any occasion.
The grand entry highlights the gorgeous cobalt blue that is seen throughout the restaurant. The glass bubble curtain wall helps to keep the hostess stand private while still allowing guests to sneak a peak at what awaits them in the dining room. The finishing touch in the space is the custom made chandelier from Portugal that adds a little touch of pizzaz to an already elegant space.
In the foyer, designers expertly blend light and dark patterns to create a space that really catches the eye. The neutral pattern of the wall helps to keep the space feeling light, while the dark patterned carpet adds contrast while helping to hide dirt that might get tracked into the space. Finally, gold details finish off the design and add that extra bit of pizzaz the homeowner was looking for.
Choose elegant finishes and accessories to maximize style on islands in compact kitchens. This smaller kitchen, designed by Donna Mathis of Haven Design Works, proves that you can still have pizzaz on a petite island. A compact island saves money on finer finishes like marble countertops; plus you can add style by picking visually interesting bar stools with details like the nailhead trim shown here.
