A pillowcase fastened around an embroidery hoop creates a simple and attractive no-sew alternative to the traditional laundry hamper. A patterned fabric can add extra color and appeal to match your dorm room decor.
A little girl will feel all grown up in this gorgeous bedroom featuring graphic wallpaper. Orange-red nightstands add a punch of color next to the decorative black headboard. Floral pillow cases and a monogramed throw pillow layer color and pattern for a playful twist.
The neutral tones in this guest bedroom are livened up with the addition of red floral bedding and striped pillow cases. An upholstered headboard provides a comfortable back for sitting up in bed, and a larger bedside table can hold a phone, a clock, accessories and a full-size table lamp.
Bring a classic, sky-like look to your sleeping space by pairing this baby blue shade with something energetic like the pops of orange in the upholstered headboard and polka dot pillow cases. Uses of darker blue in the headboard, curtains and bed linens bring depth to the design and balance the light wall shade.
Plaid bed linens and sail boat pillow cases decorate the two sets of bunk beds separated by a wood panel with built in bookshelves in this kid's bedroom. A lovable collection of stuffed animals adds comfort and color to the room. A sleek black dresser with gray drawers compliments the gray and neutral tones on the walls and strip of shag carpeting.
This country-style living room infuses Mexican decor for a cozy, Southwest feel. Pottery is displayed in a wall-length glass case, and pillows with Southwestern designs and animal prints line the furniture.
Sometimes one really is better than two when it comes to art. It's tempting to hang twin photos or paintings behind a bed, like one per pillow. But one larger piece — in this case a modern graphic on a primitive sign — adds a punch of color and drama to the monochromatic color scheme created by designer Gregory Augustine.
When specifying upholstery for a beachfront house belonging to an active family, designers Betsy Burnham and Max Humphrey of Burnham Design opted to cover all the furniture in indoor-outdoor fabric. "Every piece is done in Sunbrella fabric — even the pillows and the custom area rug underneath. Outdoor fabric was the perfect choice for this room, which is "command central" for TV-watching and game playing.” And, they note, “In terms of the furniture plan, sometimes it’s dramatic to do fewer pieces and keep the scale large of each and bold; that’s the case here. We selected the largest sectional we could fit in the space and made sure it was super deep and comfy. We paired it with a large upholstered ottoman, which serves double duty as a coffee table and great place for everyone to kick up their feet.”
This undeniably fun bedroom is a colorful reflection of the budding artist who lives here. Angela's daughter is following in her footsteps and her bedroom/art studio is the perfect space to inspire creativity. Benjamin Moore's White Rain was applied to the walls and trim, then color matched for the drapery and area rug. This design technique creates a gallery-like feel by neutralizing the backdrop, and in this case, allowing her artwork and painterly fabrics to stand out. The crisp white bedside tables pop off of the dreamy wall color and the Pierre Frey fabrics on the pillows and bench are perfect to inspire an artist's imagination. Repeating an additional set of panels and upholstered cornice behind the headboard adds major aesthetic value, style, and an element of customization to this bedroom. My favorite element is the cat lamp, having a "cat nap" on the bedside chest.
