Who said formal needs to be boring? Add vibrant color to a formal dining space to create a relaxing, fun vibe. Shades of blue are divided by a white chair rail that unite the wall and curtains. The plush, blue tufted sofa becomes the focal point, accented with multi-colored throw pillows. The green palm tree leaves add natural dimension and color.
To make this breakfast nook as comfortable as possible, the designers outfitted the banquettes with plush, paisley-printed cushions. Notice how the swirls in the pillows complement the wall's painted lines and so help tie the space together.
In this elegant living room, neutral sofas are set against milk chocolate walls for gentle contrast. Fringed throw pillows match the paisley armchair for a cohesive look. Framed botanical prints and a potted palm add a hint of tropical style to the mix.
A large sectional sofa in neutral tones provides plenty of room to relax in this stylish living room. Built-in open shelving around the fireplace helps keep things organized, while pillows in toile and paisley add depth and warmth to the seating area.
Magenta-colored drapes and a zebra-printed, round ceiling cut-out create a dramatic effect in this girl's bedroom. Vibrant pillows add color to the white window seat bench. Playful, paisley-printed bedding brings even more rich, purple tones to the mostly white space.
The magic in this nursery comes from the whimsical accents and rich textures. A unique mirror mimics the curves of the paisley wall treatment, while the fabric chosen for the pillows and window seat dares you to sit a spell. A ceramic rose blooming on the lamp is a feminine touch.
In Chris' bedroom, a mix of high and low created his designer bed ensemble. A custom bed upholstered in automotive vinyl was the area's biggest purchase; however, deceptively budget-friendly purchases were made for the remainder of the space. The demilune-shaped chests came from ZGallerie for $600 each, and not only do they add an elegant touch, they offer concealed storage. Table lamps atop the chests were found at a flea market and updated with red paint and new metallic drum shades. While Ralph Lauren bedding in a classic paisley print was a splurge, custom pillows made from $6.99 per yard IKEA tartan fabric kept the budget in check. To allow Chris to easily change up the looks of his bedding, the backs of each pillow were covered in a nautical print from Duralee.
