This family room features a diverse mix of fabrics, patterns and materials to create a globally-inspired, eclectic space. The deep midnight blue accent color on the ikat drapery is carried over to the hand-painted wooden plaques above the fireplace. The whole look is grounded with a large oriental rug and a classic-lined sofa. Accent furniture, including a unique hammered bronze metal coffee table, modern orange chair and classic wing-back chair complete the look.
To create a comfortable space in this loft's living area, designer brought in a velvet chair that begs to be lounged in. The bold, blue of the sofa adds color to the space and is warmed by the neutral, modern sling chair and polished wood slice coffee table. To give definition to the space, a neutral rug lies below the furniture and a gallery wall of black and white photographs keeps this living area from spilling over into the loft's other spaces.
A large blue velvet sectional and a pair of modern red chairs face in toward a glass coffee table over a traditional patterned area rug. A mix of bold colored and polka dot throw pillows decorate the sofa. A second seating area designed under the large window uses a a tufted leather sofa and matching armchair. A similar mix of throw pillows is used tying the two spaces together. A pair of cow hide fabric chairs and a mounted half-table add to the eclectic vibe of the design.
A terra-cotta-color wall brings in warmth year-round. “The tone shifts over the course of the day, like a sunset,” says Katie. The oversize art from Four Hands Art Studio makes it even more glorious. For seating, the dated brown sectional that dominated the space got replaced with a chic blue wool-blend sofa by American Leather, a curvy armchair by Taylor King, and two leather slingback chairs from Wisteria. Friends at the couple’s giant potluck dinners spill into here, so the large coffee table by Jonathan Charles Fine Furniture comes in handy. The rug is by Jaipur Living.
