Relaxed and rustic, designer Vanessa DeLeon paired masculine shades of gray and chocolate brown to give this boy’s bedroom timeless functionality. A handcrafted queen bed and matching nightstands are paired with a vintage over-dyed rug from Creative Touch and woven wallpaper by Phillip Jeffries.
A neon yellow wall strip adds a vibrant accent over the navy blue wall behind the twin bed in this kid's bedroom design. A neutral textured bed cover is decorated with travel and baseball throw pillows adding a personal touch. Polka dot rugs bring the wall color to the hardwood floor for a cohesive look.
A decorative woven basket for pillows is a nice, textured detail to add personality and functionality to a space. Hardwood flooring extends out from the blue area rug below the basket. A thick knitted blanket and matching pillow are accented by a colorful floral pillow.
This contemporary maple and walnut dining table doubles as a regulation ping-pong table for an added element of fun in this dining room design. Matching wood chairs line the sides while contemporary yellow chairs sit at the ends. Mounted mirrors contribute to the sunny look of the room and fill open wall space without cluttering the design.
Black and white arrow-printed wallpaper sets the tone for this eclectic, mature nursery. A turquoise, over-dyed rug brings a playful pop of color to the neutral space. Scandinavian-style furniture is both sleek and gender-neutral.
White-framed windows and wooden glass doors let in the light in this cottage sunroom. A white sofa and chaise lounge provide seating over the hardwood floor and tan rug. Square whicker stools sit next to the natural wood coffee table, and blue tie-dye throw pillows add color to the neutral room.
“It seems counterintuitive, but color and pattern chaos in my office motivates me,” says Sonal, who designs textiles. That explains the eclectic combination of woven baskets on the wall and layered rugs on the floor. The desk, with pyramid legs and a sleek glass top, has big-time presence. Adding to the glam mishmash: orange poufs from Surya, a blue-and-white ikat chair from Anthropologie, and curtains made with indigo-dyed fabric by Lewis & Sheron Textiles.
Designer Vanessa DeLeon used plush fabrics and deep gray accent pieces to put an elegant spin on this complete home remodel. The eclectic teal and black dining room features an over-dyed turquoise rug from Creative Touch in Secaucus, N.J., while the table hails from Brooklyn-based artisan woodworker Palo Samko. The neutral walls are complemented by a faux-painted black and gray ceiling and black leather chairs around a rustic hardwood dining table with mismatched candle holders and two brass pendant lights.
In this guest bedroom, designers wanted to bring the illusion of a pool to the space, so they installed wallpaper to the ceiling that mimics the design of a pool liner. The bold, blue tye-dye bedspread mirrors that feeling, while sandy wood and a neutral rug bring warmth to the space.
Unique blue chairs could easily make a space feel overly formal -- but not with the addition of funky white throw pillows and a blue-white printed rug. Unique design accents also fill the room with casual personality.
