The Mediterranean home seamlessly blends the indoors and out to create a space that's both family friendly and great for entertaining. An outdoor dining spot is shaded by a deep blue umbrella, while cozy seating areas are space throughout the patio. Speakers hidden behind the Japanese maple trees softly fill the air with music, while smart landscaping provides privacy.
Earth toned Belgard pavers are stacked together to create a round fire pit and a central focus for this stone patio. Comfortable seating in complimentary colors helps to create a welcoming area for entertaining outdoors.
The client had a very large backyard that was all grass. The Elite team came in and removed over half of the grass area and did site preparation to build this two level custom paver patio and accessorized the areas with a custom fountain, fire pit, garden planter boxes and seating benches. The pavers used are from Belgard's mega arbel and urbana collections. The client wanted a traditional custom outdoor living space that would give them enough space for entertaining and also very little maintenance required.
Because the location of this home was on the side of a cliff overlooking the surrounding area, the designers wanted to emphasize the beautiful view. In doing so, they opened up the living room and kitchen, added several large windows to bring in the natural light and added a screened-in porch for comfortable outdoor seating.
Beautiful hand-cut travertine tile mosaic decorates the floor of this stunning pool while strong, geometric pillars and arches convey a Romanesque aesthetic within this Mediterranean patio area. A circular sunshelf provides a luxurious way to enter the pool. Following the line of warming fire bowls, the patio features an infinity spa and outdoor kitchen and dining space.
Clean, modern lines are incorporated into this exterior design that mirrors the contemporary elements of the home. An infinity pool and spa add interest and spacial economy to a design that packs a lot into a small space. The pool-side outdoor kitchen allows for a swim-up bar and luxurious lounge area.
Jetted water features adorn this sleek swimming pool, part of a backyard oasis adjoining this contemporary California hacienda. A poolhouse provides indoor space to enjoy the outdoor view, and a wide covered patio offers a great spot for dining al fresco. A retractable wall between the patio and living area blurs the line between indoors and out.
This small outdoor patio is located just adjacent to the home's main patio. Flat-topped bench rock boulders were cut into paver stones in various gray hues for the patio floor. Black wrought iron chairs with red and white striped cushions are positioned on either side of a bistro table, and multiple perennial plantings surround the seating area.
Tiers of sloping fences, stone walls, and shaped rock formations border a platform seating area patterned with inlaid stonework housing a stonework fire pit and benches. Accent lighting beneath the benches reflect upon the stonework and complement the pit's flames. Outdoor seating adds added texture to the scene, and provides views of the topiary landscape.
This spacious outdoor patio features a wood paneled overhang, providing a bit of shade during the day and lighting at night. Concrete steps and gravel landscaping complete the look of the area, while floor-to-ceiling glass walls and windows allow for a peek at the interior spaces, including the living and dining rooms.
Turn the area below an elevated deck into storage space for outdoor equipment and garden supplies like McLean, Virginia's Land Art Design did for a client. The wide doorway gives easy access when it's time to fetch a rake or trowel, and a padlock keeps everything secure.
This bedroom brings the outdoors inside. A chandelier over the bed is made from painted antlers, and the furniture is rough-hewn. Tan, white, and green plaids in the bed linens and window treatment lend to the rustic feel of the space. A rustic wood chair and coffee table offer the perfect sitting area for relaxing and enjoying a good book. Houseplants lend to the natural element while a green glass bedside lamp helps illuminate the space and tie in the color scheme. A natural jute throw rug anchors the entire area.
It's amazing to think that this contemporary outdoor space was once a forgotten unused area. The design firm, A Blade of Grass, kept some existing materials, including the wood decking. The existing fence was updated with horizontal cedar cladding, which provided a clean, uniform backdrop. Garden stools also are an affordable, bold accent for a patio.
Behind the large, rectangular pool, a fire pit and chairs provide a tucked-away spot for chilling out -- and maybe roasting marshmallows! The area is surrounded by a low stone wall, and just beyond a brick wall around the pool is a lovely addition to more rustic and large stone masonry. Shrubs, plants and a lush lawn complete this outdoor living space.
One of the luxury amenities the homeowners wanted in their space was an electric grill, so designers installed a custom area to meet their needs. Rich toned wood cabinets give the homeowners a place to store necessities, while the concealed ventilation system rushes smoke out of the home and into the outdoors.
Host Jamie Durie of The Outdoor Room transforms the swimming pool area at the home of Anne Heche and James Tupper from an overly sunny and hot yard into a shaded garden fit for Hollywood entertaining. A wall of hedges provides shade and privacy, while the pool features a lounge-like gazebo on one end and a hot tub on the other.
You can choose to eat at the dining area inside or dine alfresco at this waterfront home in Tampa, Fla. A dark wood dining table and benches on either side offers casual outdoor dining with a trio of candles as the centerpiece. A built-in grill and mini fridge makes it convenient to entertain guests here.
The open air pavilion serves as an entertainment hub complete with premium grilling area, central fireplace and comfortable seating. The open fireplace features a textural rock surround that extend up into the wood ceiling. Because the space is covered and protected from the elements, the outdoor dining space is elevated with an elegant set up and large pendant lighting.
Fieldwork Design & Architecture transform the pool room into a zen retreat by ensconcing the room, floor to ceiling, in Western Red Cedar and slate tile. The sliding glass doors are replaced with a 32-foot wide single sliding door to create a seamless portal to the verdant outdoors. An unfinished utility area is converted into a wine cellar and changing room.
