This family room was constructed in ten days including a new fireplace surround, millwork, stripping the floors and all new window treatments and furniture. Garcia creates a focal point out of the large fireplace by using paint and molding detail.
In this transitional dining room, the carpet was replaced with hardwood flooring and the walls received new coats of paint in gray and white to resemble wainscoting. The original furniture looks more modern within its new setting. New window treatments, artwork and flowers bring an airy feel to the room.
Designer Debbie Perez took advantage of the vintage fireplace by repositioning the furniture to center around it. By repurposing all the couples existing furniture, adding some new accessories and bringing in a monochromatic color palette, this room now has a cool and relaxing vibe.
The exposed wood beams white oak and coordinate visually with the new hardwood floors and furnishings in natural wood finish. The windows get new shutters, while the fireplace gets a new marble surround and hearth. The oversized coffee table with hand-turned legs is the handiwork of furniture designer and wood craftsman Clint Harp.
