Shades of blue form the base for this cool boy's room. A cushioned, navy headboard with nail head design brings a masculine touch to the space, while the orange pillows add some contrasting color. A metallic, mounted lamp provides light to the space, freeing up the nightstand to display the room's occupant's favorite things. To finish the design and add a touch of whimsy, a robot print hangs next to the bed.
To create a fun space for the homeowners' little boy, designers anchored the space in the thing that he loves the best-cars. As the focal point for the space, the vehicle bed spread gives the room a youthful feel, but can easily be changed as the young boy grows. A navy accent wall complements the bed linens and anchors the space, tying in the unique paintings and blue lounge chair. To complete the space, a gray, geometric rug rests just underneath the heart of the room, giving the entire space dimension.
On episode seven of HGTV Design Star season six, contestant Kellie was asked to transform this boy's bedroom with a locker room theme in mind. Though she didn't do the locker room theme, Kellie tucks bits of soccer-themed pieces throughout the room. Still, judge John Gidding isn't impressed: "There's nothing locker room in this whole space," he says.
The homeowners wanted a space for their boys that was both fun and masculine, so designers used a navy, teal, walnut and gold color palette to create this shared boys' room that has private spaces for each of the children.
The Astronaut Themed big boy room for the homeowners' four year old son has a vibrant navy wall on one side that gives the space a "dipped" look, while the astronaut bed linens really bring the theme to life. And shelves add plenty of display space.
Wood boards stripe the navy accent wall in this boy's bedroom, creating depth and texture behind the gray upholstered headboard. Layers of decorative pillows cushion and decorate the bed, which boasts a blue blanket with a cargo pocket. Contemporary green table lamps and a monogram letter add pops of color.
This kid's room design uses fun, bold, preppy colors and geometric patterns to make the boys’ room look both youthful and classic. Instead of the traditional bedside tables, the designer used a large console table between the beds. A pair of patterned cubes beneath the table pull out to provide seating for playtime or homework.
To create a unique space for the homeowners' little boy, designers anchored the space in a bright blue wall color and mural that depicts a map of the world. Then, they added a navy bed frame to add contrast in the space. Finally, they added colorful pillows and the occupant's prized possessions-a statue and a guitar-to give the space a personalized touch to the room.
Since the "big boy" bedroom and nursery were adjoining, designers had to create spaces that would complement each other as well as be sophisticated enough to grow with the boys as they get older, so they created a "dipped" effect that made for the perfect backdrop for the Astronaut Big Boy Room and the Whale of a Tale Nursery.
A family of stuffed animals lounge against plaid pillows in this eclectic boys' bedroom. The bedding compliments the colors found in the map wallpaper behind the neutral upholstered headboard with navy and gold trim. The kids' room has a subtle nautical theme, but is sophisticated enough to grow with the child.
