The workspace in this salon is symmetrical. In the center of the space, white modern nail booths sit in a line. At each of these, a gold Midcentury Modern chair provides customers with a comfortable place to sit. Above each booth is a modern white light fixture with gold interior, accenting the glamour of the space. On either side of the nail booths, four cream armchairs sit in front of pedicure booths, making the space feel even more relaxing. The gold fixtures in the space give the salon floor touches of glam, while the colors of the seating adds to the feminine vibe of the space.
As seen on HGTV's Flipping the Block, Amanda Marks and her boyfriend Curtis Goldin layered textures and patterns to create a charming cottage-style master bedroom. The upholstered headboard features nail head trim – a subtle but elegant accent.
The biggest splurge in the master bedroom was the custom upholstered headboard, which grounds the space and keeps the scale and proportion of the main pieces in check. Although the fabric used for its upholstery came to less than $100, the nail head detail was triple that price. The nail heads themselves are not expensive (usually priced by the 1000 unit box), but the labor and time involved to apply them as a custom pattern comes at a high cost. To create the pattern, a template is first made from paper, then laid in place along the upholstery. Referring to the template, a skilled upholstery professional applies each nail head by hand using a rubber mallet, ensuring even placement and perfectly level lines. Altogether, nail head application for a headboard this size may take as much as two full days to complete.
Furniture embellishments are hot this season, and it's easy to add nail-head trim to an upholstered piece you already have. To break up the otherwise solid look of this flannel-check headboard, we added polished chrome nail-head trim to accentuate the panel's wingback details.
This upscale salon has a Midcentury Modern design that is girly, glamorous and vintage. The blush and cream palette makes the space feel soft and feminine, while the gold accents add a touch of glam to the rooms. Vintage details such as the white chandelier help to add personality to the space.
Today, renewed interest in mixology and classic drinks is helping the Rusty Nail make a comeback. The combination of blended scotch whiskey and Drambuie makes for a drink with a little sweetness and a little bite - no tetanus shot required.
The client works from home from time to time and wanted a place where she could have total privacy. A beautiful desk and tailored chair were design musts. The metallic Clarke and Clarke wallpaper brought it all together.
