The homeowners needed an office in their new space, so designers created one that was as modern and elegant as the rest of the home. Within the space, there is plenty of storage with standing cabinets on one side of the desk, upper and lower cabinets in the rear of the space, and with the lower cabinets, designers gave the space an additional desk so there is plenty of flat work space. For the finishing touch, they decorated with statues and artwork that tie this space into the modern design of the rest of the home.
Steel curtain hardware travels across the wall to become an industrial-style art display. The glass desk is on wheels so that it is easily shifted out of the way when the home office is needed as an extra guest room.
Horizontal windows above the gray, built-in corner desk let in natural light and offer a beautiful treetop view. Drawers and cabinets offer plenty of storage space, keeping the desk surface clutter-free.
"This garage remodel was designed for a UCLA professor who wanted a stylish home office," says Ron Cohen, CEO of Pearl Remodeling. "Because of zoning restrictions at the time of the remodel, we could not legally convert the garage into a living space, so we kept the garage door operational and updated the interior so it could still be enjoyed as a workspace. We installed new drywall on all walls and ceiling, and light-colored flooring and paint to brighten up the room. Open shelving with complementary decor give this study a modern touch with lots of room to personalize the space."
In designing his backyard home office/writing studio, Marco Morelli went with a warm but dramatic look. He chose Studio Shed's corrugated steel panels and Collins Block siding to sheath his shed's exterior. The red exterior complements and contrasts with his home's creamy yellow exterior. Once their shed was in place, the Morellis added a path, vegetable beds and play area.
Pine hardwood flooring runs the length of this modern home office featuring a marble fireplace and gray accent wall. A modern desk and cushioned chair sits beside the rounded wall with two energy efficient windows.
In this glam, modern home office, the details are key, such as this sleek round coffee table with acrylic legs and brass details. A show-stopping chaise longue in a vivid plum hue showcases the homeowner's playfulness and fearless love of color. The space is infused with personal touches that drench the room in personality. Meanwhile, a flower arrangement on the table complements the floral pillow on the chaise.
This minimalistic home office features a small black desk paired with a black leather chair and cowhide area rug. A midcentury modern red chair with a red and white polka for throw pillow adds a splash of color without distracting from the stunning urban landscape.
