IDF Studio was hired by a young, design-conscious couple to transform their newly purchased Noe Valley home into a relaxed, modern retreat. In perfect harmony with the home’s crisp architecture, we created a design that exudes the clients’ warm, understated style.
Making good use of the available space in this large bedroom, a wall size headboard with bedside reading sconces envelopes the bed and nightstands. A rich chocolate brown with a stripe pattern, the headboard coordinates with the lighter beige bench. White linens match the white walls and an armless chair.
"Smartly, the headboard allows the men's team to orient the bed to the view of the city versus back to the living room as the women and Dan have done," said Vern Yip, judge on HGTV's Design Star. The unique headboard is a shelving structure of open cubbies, perfect for displaying decor. The green striped bed cover adds color to the white shelves, walls and sheets. The shelving unit acts as a room divider, but the see-through element creates a spacious feel.
In the master bedroom of this home, a striking headboard was created out of gray leather panels that reach all the way up to the ceiling. Elsewhere, the palette is softly neutral with lots of wood and rich textures creating a soothing and sophisticated feel.
