Designers brought the Midcentury Modern look to life in this newly redesigned home with a Broyhill Brasilia dining table and a custom banquette covered in gray tweed. The modern dining chairs were repurposed and recovered, with three of them coming to rest around the dining table and the fourth finding its home under the newly commissioned painting of Alexander Hamilton by Mike Johnson. To complete the space, designers hung a cubist light fixture and had a local artist custom paint the walls to put the finishing touches on the Midcentury Modern dining room.
In the dining area, a modern, marble top dining table and leather Poliform chairs provide stylish seating that help to keep an open, airy feeling in the space. Floating above the modern addition is a series of three George Nelson pendants add texture and warmth to the design of the home.
In the dining room, the homeowners wanted to create an elegant, bright space, so designers used white as the basis for their design. This allows the walls to reflect the natural light of the windows at the front of the space, making this small room seem larger. Two modern art pieces add a splash of color to the space, while a modern dining table and modern chairs provide seating. In addition to the natural light, a modern chandelier hangs from the ceiling adding elegance and providing light at night and on cloudy days.
Designer David Bromstad gives this small dining area a funky new vibe with artwork he painted himself, a modern aluminum chandelier and a moody, blue-green wall color. The homeowners' existing dining set is right at home in the new space.
