To add symmetry to the Eclectic-Modern living room, designers placed identical vignettes on either side of the fireplace. These vignettes are made up of clear, modern desks and stylish, Midcentury Modern stools. These features give the living room a dual purpose as an office. To help add a little dimension and height to the areas, artwork was added to the walls, finishing off the design.
In this living room, patterns and textures work together to create an intimate vibe in this large, open space. Patterns like the cheetah print featured on this chair are prominent throughout the space and play off the modern art, bringing a cohesive design to the space.
This wooden buffet features midcentury modern design paired with contemporary details, like embossed cabinet doors and gold metallic legs. Two forest green lamps with black shades sit atop the buffet, while a multicolored framed print hangs above. A gold hand sculpture provides a finishing touch.
The gray and white marble backsplash helps to ease the transition between the dark, rich, mahogany paneling and the stark, white-gloss cabinets. The addition of the marble also provides additional warmth and texture to the design.
This beautifully crisp kitchen design features a polished light color scheme and sharp lines. A trio of octagon pendant lights hangs over the island marble countertop. The backsplash echoes the marble finish between light, neutral cabinets.
To give this space an updated look, designers removed the wood paneling surrounding the fireplace and painted everything in all white. Then, they added recessed LED lights, new window treatments and warm, Midcentury Modern furniture to complete the space.
Designers wanted this spacious, Midcentury Modern living room to fell intimate despite its large floor plan, so they carefully chose textures and fabrics that would add personality, but wouldn't overwhelm the beautiful exterior views showcased by the expansive windows. Walls are painted white to reflect the views of the outdoors, while the color is added through a few pieces of modern art and colorful, patterned throw pillows on the modern sofas.
Former HGTV Design Star contestant Tym De Santo created this living room with a midcentury modern take. Tym's designs have grown since his appearance on the show's first season: "Surprisingly (to me) my 'minimalist' approach to design has grown to include a warmer modern feel," he says. "I am using more texture and color to highlight my interiors, and I love it!"
A curtain pattern introduces a touch of yellow accent echoed by the throw pillows and gold floor lamp. A dark gray-brown sectional grounds the lighter neutral tones used throughout the room. Nailhead trim on the armchairs and subtle fabric tuft on the sectional cushions add a polished finish to the pieces.
