A modern, minimalist and midcentury-style kitchen with natural materials. The homeowner loves white and initially wanted an all-white kitchen. But because she feared that it would be hard to maintain with her two kids, she went with natural walnut cabinets instead, along with a few white cabinets and white countertops. “This way she would not have to feel as though her kitchen had to be in perfect condition,” says designer Kristianne Watts.

This bedroom gets a classic midcentury modern look from its furnishings. The sleek design of the lamp and bedside table complement the simplicity of the taupe wall and gray bed. The wall art adds a color pop.
Guests can saddle up to the kitchen island on midcentury modern barstools, complete with molded seats and tapered legs. The open nature of the kitchen allows the chef to interact with guests while taking care of last-minute prep.
In the sitting room, designers added additional seating with two chairs that are a Midcentury Modern take on the traditional wingback chair. Then, they added a fun, geometric patterned jade-green pillow for a pop of color and personality.
The home’s curb appeal was updated by installing a new entry door and sidelights; new windows, including an enlarged opening for the second-floor living room; new fiber cement siding for the upper level; and a new garage door. The designers focused on increasing transparency and accentuating the horizontal character of the simple form.
Designer David Bromstad gives this small dining area a funky new vibe with artwork he painted himself, a modern aluminum chandelier and a moody, blue-green wall color. The homeowners' existing dining set is right at home in the new space.
