Located on the roof of a historic Art Deco building in Miami Beach, Florida, this luxurious penthouse roof deck is a private retreat in the sky. The outdoor escape includes a kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops, a sun deck with a table for alfresco dining and a covered cabana lounge with a pop-up TV and sofas.
Sinuous curves define the master bathroom of this luxury Miami Beach estate. The dramatic, open shower features a waterfall spout flanked by twin rainfall shower heads. Facing vanities are furniture style, with a pale wood finish and thick marble tops. Arched windows are divided by curving engaged columns that flow in an uninterrupted line to the barrel-vaulted ceiling. The floor showcases a dramatic mosaic design.
Relaxed elegance defines this soothing, neutral bedroom, part of an 18,000-square-foot Miami Beach luxury estate. A sculptural fireplace and beamed wood ceiling provide architectural interest to the long, narrow room, which benefits from the natural light ushered in by broad windows at one end. A simple wood frame canopy bed adds a structural element in the space that balances the heavy fireplace.
An outdoor room has to be functional, but it also has to be engaging or you'll never use it. Elyse Santoro, a Miami-based interior designer/decorator asks clients to think about places they've traveled to that they absolutely love. "If they say they love Tuscany or the vineyards in northern California, I ask them to remember what it felt like there and to create their outdoor space with elements of that place."
The backyard showcases a beautiful modern swimming pool, with an infinity edge and spillway, stairs leading up to a higher patio seating area and an adjacent cabana space. To match the color palette and tone of the rest of the home, natural hues were used with variations of grays. The infinity edge pool gives a modern design, a palm tree was shipped in from Miami to give a tropical summer feel while flowerbeds were layered with tons of texture and color to complement the outdoor space.
