After you've added enough coats of beeswax to your ornaments, and they've completely cooled, let them sit in an empty egg carton until you’re ready to use them. Use purchased hangers to put them on the tree, or make your own from 26-gauge gold-tone wire.
Fill vases with a shiny finish, such as mercury glass, with iced branches and flowers to give your holiday centerpiece a sophisticated winter refresh. Add a few snowflake votives (these are Allen + Roth brand from Lowe’s) to transition into your new year look. Then while packing up ornaments, keep out shapes such as pinecones or finials, that can finish off the transformation.
Create this simple, classic centerpiece with dishes and ornaments you have on hand. Top sprigs of fresh greenery with sparkling sliver and white ornaments, trees and mercury glass candle holders. The soup tureen in the center is both beautiful and functional. Photo by Marian Parsons.
“The holidays are such an expensive time of the year in general, I wanted to come up with a beautiful, affordable tablescape,” says Fotini Roman of Farmhouse Chic Blog. By incorporating her collection of mercury-glass votive holders with a fragrant cedar garland and mini silver ornaments, Roman created a warm, inviting and elegant holiday table.
