Shimmery fabrics and rich finishes throughout turn this master bedroom into a luxurious retreat fit for the king and queen of this literal castle in Colleyville, Texas. The 7,200-square foot luxury home features Gothic-inspired architectural detail. In this space, ornate crown moldings are repeated in the recessed ceiling medallion.
A soft pastel nursery combines romantic and contemporary styles. The round mirror hung over the dresser features beautiful patina that brings out the slight blue shades throughout the decor. A mint medallion area rug adds style underfoot, while the abstract art above the crib is custom painted to match the palette of the room.
Modern glamour suggests pairing sophisticated, dramatic styles with unexpected elements. Rather than replacing the contractor-grade light fixture with a chandelier, a golden-toned farmhouse pendant was installed along with a formal ceiling medallion. The laid-back, playful and industrial vibe of the pendant puts a fresh spin on the otherwise girly and dramatic style.
A modern space with traditional touches: This living space is marked by the juxtaposition of styles. While the ceiling medallion, crown moulding and fireplace feel traditional, the funky ceiling fixture and furniture are anything but. A dark navy sofa and area rug bring calm color to the otherwise neutral space -- the dog invites you to join and sit for a spell!
A sense of intimacy is captured in this dining room by the addition of a hanging fixture that brings the light low from the high ceiling. The modern lines of the table and chairs are complemented by the more traditional ceiling medallion and fireplace surround. For a touch of fun, the designer added a painted, faux deer mount above the fireplace.
The homeowners of this traditional townhouse hoped to give the space an entirely modern look, but some things were just too beautiful to change. For instance, the decorative plaster ceiling medallions may not fit into a classically modern aesthetic, but with the right pendant light, they blend seamlessly and contribute a lot of character to the space.
The detailed rosette ceiling in the center of the room features inset antique mirrors framed in acanthus leaf moldings. The center ceiling medallion is embellished with a blue crystal chandelier. The archway leading into the family room is paneled and finished to match the cabinetry. On both sides of the arch, the designer centered two tall China cabinets with curved mullion doors.
A leather-textured and metal-studded ceiling, hand-carved ceiling medallion and sumptuous silk drapes with double-layered tassel and bullion fringe create a cozy corner for a hand-crafted game table and leather upholstered side chairs. Gas wall lanterns complement the soft glow of the three-tiered hand-painted silk Fortuny chandelier and help create an ambiance of luxury in this one-of-a-kind room.
A stand-alone cabinetry piece gives this master bath a more formal, traditional look than the outdated “honey-oak” cabinetry that was previously in the space. With plenty of floor space to display something decorative, designer Rachel Kate selected a tile medallion for the area and designed coordinating borders in the shower and bath surround.
The remodeled dining area -- in warm wood tones, muted gray-greens and charcoal -- exemplifies the casual, comfortable vibe the Kitchen Cousins were going for with this renovation. To add historic character to the dining room, stamped-tin tiles were installed on the ceiling. The tiles are in varied patterns alternating between linear, medallion and floral designs. An impressive chandelier adds a touch of elegance to the space.
This inviting foyer welcomes guests into a bright open living room that is dripping in character. White wainscoting lines the walls, while metallic foil gray silver cork wallpaper add a touch of color to the niches and the ceiling. A subtle custom bench hugs the walls with a dark blue and gold fabric adding seating to the space. Finally, a custom marble medallion sets the tone for the rest of the home.
