Kids and adults alike can enjoy time in this neutral cottage sitting room. Storage for toys and games is ample in the dark wood armoire. Bead board walls, a rattan sofa with washable cushions, hardwoods and chipped furniture make the space a durable playroom for kids but stylistically mature for adults since it has to serve dual purposes.
The homeowners' two young girls requested "pink" and "sparkly," and this room delivers. Using a darker shade of pink on the ceiling, a mature print on the roman shades and an Art Deco inspired chandelier meets the girls' desires while keeping the room from feeling too juvenile. Carpet tiles are durable and easy-to-clean, making them a perfect choice in a kid's room.
Tamara Hubinsky’s mission for this design was to create a hideout for the 9-year-old boy that would still accommodate him as he matured. The bookshelf stairs were custom designed to provide storage and utilize precious bedroom space. The stairs also add structure to the loft bed, which is important for kids’ rooms that are subject to lots of movement and heavy use. Small stair carpet treads (in a stone, riverbed pattern) add comfort and safety.
