Honed marble is prone to stains, so HGTV's Kitchen Cousins created a custom wood chopping block out of 100-year-old flooring salvaged from homes around the area. A burned-on Kitchen Cousins logo adds a custom touch.
This kitchen's white base of cabinets, marble countertops and backsplash make a blank canvas on which to layer pretty textures, like the wooden cutting boards, and cheery pops of color. Even oranges get to be part of the fun!
Because the kitchen is so clean and modern, designer Caitlin Murray used wood cutting boards and other natural accent to create a sense of balance. Notice how these pieces bring out the rich hue of the black marble backsplash, too.
Mix in a few wood sliced, wooden cutting boards, or marble pie boards to use as serving platters. Not only do these options increase the amount of serving dishes at your disposal, but they are visually interesting.
Thoughtful design turns this small kitchen into an extremely user-friendly space. For baking projects, there's a lower countertop with a crema marfil marble top. The adjacent counter conceals a cutting board that slides out for easy access. Vertical cabinet accents continue into the backsplash.
