A deck looking over a hillside of Japanese maple, oak, redwood, acacia and pine provides the perfect setting for snacks, relaxation and contemplation. Several terra cotta pots filled with flowering plants and ornamental grasses are set at the top of a small staircase connecting a walkway to the deck.
A bird's eye view of the rear stone patio and steps shows us the details in the design. Built-in lighting along the steps helps to create guidance and a warm glow at night. The use of Acer palmatum, or Japanese Maple and Heuchera help to soften the edges of the textured and smooth stone.
A maple and iron staircase leads to the entrance of the loft area of HGTV Green Home 2011. A driftwood sawhorse table greets below a column of three colorful Yupo paper paintings. Two contemporary buffet lamps provide plenty of light in the space.
A modern staircase invites traffic to flow from the first to second floor in the entryway of HGTV Green Home 2011. An oversized bureau at the base of the stairs accommodates storage of outerwear or mail.
