The site was a grassy plane with several acres of Russian Olives. The house design is a low, contemporary structure that is very linear, so the linear structural elements are carried into the landscape. The challenge was to blend the strict, formal landscape back to a native environment without making the space feel forced.
This backyard features a circular walkway that leads to a small grove of orange trees. A patio set enjoys the lush views beside a stone retaining wall. A mix of low shrubs and tall trees creates dimension in the landscape design.
