This contemporary metallic sculpture, created with small, protruding silver balls that form continuous circles toward a crystal center, illuminates the wall with shadows and light. Adding the framed prints next to and below the sculpture presents an interesting aesthetic arrangement.
A series of portraits of odd-shaped creatures are framed and hanging on a black wall above a plush, soft sofa. Two round tables sit on either side of the sofa, which has a coordinating plush ottoman. Four orb pendant lights add lighting and style to the space.
Olaniyi’s design never ceases to delight with its clever touches. Just above the nightstand this small piece of text art reminds her of the need to settle down before sleeping. Unsurprisingly, Olaniyi delights in her ability to surprise with her design choices. “The inside of our home is totally not what anyone expects,” she says. “Everything on the outside of the home is cookie-cutter traditional, inside we go for the swanky vibes. No matter their age, people feel right at home here. Everyone who enters gets a warm hug from us and our home, and that makes us proud.”
White walls, modern art and a fun geometric chandelier bring distinction and elegance to this contemporary entryway. A sleek glass railing delineates the modern stairway, while glass doors and a high window usher in loads of natural light.
Contemporary design flows from this warm living room. A large purple sofa sits opposite the wall of windows letting in lots of natural light, with the nearby art wall illuminated by a modern globe floor lamp. A creamy stone-inspired coffee table sits on top of a large striped area rug in black-and-white.
Light pink walls are capped with a patterned ceiling bringing a touch of green to the room. A striped floor matches the walls and adds deeper shades of pink. Hot pink letters personalize the wall above a beautiful white crib with pink details. The dresser and toy box match the crib for a fully girly design.
A mixture of genres adorn the art wall and hail from both local galleries and southern artists. To add a little drama, a pair of polished nickel globe pendants provide ambient lighting and give the art wall its own special light.
A wall-size floor mirror defines the small dining area in this open living space. Designer Andreas Charalambous of FORMA Design angles the large mirror against the wall to reflect natural light and views of the adjacent garden.
A light gray stone wall provides a stunning backdrop for a distressed blue console table. Colorful abstract art hangs above the table, which is accessorized with weathered topiaries and candlesticks. Worn pottery sits below the tabletop decor to complement the brightly colored wall art.
Designer Meg Caswell recycles a wood pallet as a unique photo display hanging over the tan sofa. The light blue walls and matching patterned pillows, along with the unique coffee table create a contemporary meets traditional style.
A large rectangular mirror is flanked by multiple distressed art pieces, creating a visually interesting background for the neutral armchairs. A black table with drawer storage breaks up the light color palette.
Once all natural light has faded, the coral walls of the bathroom appear a pink shade of salmon. When using high-energy colors on walls, many designers suggest testing the paint in several areas of a space, then taking note of how those colors read at different times of the day. This is especially important when coordinating fabrics, tile or wall covering.
