As seen on House Hunters Renovation, homeowner Meghan McElroy found her ideal home in the Leimert Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. She decided to restore the original hardwood floors, and loves how the golden wood sets off the gray fireplace and furniture.
Gorgeous warm wood ceiling beams create a decorative cover over the spacious design of this living room. Brown seat cushions on the traditional style chairs match the brown hue of the large sectional looking toward the scenic view visible through uncovered windows. A large fireplace surround is topped with a large mantel piece adding texture to the space.
Wood ceiling beams add warmth to the natural tones in this spacious living room design. Natural light floods in from large windows and a sliding glass door connected the room to the gorgeous lake view outdoors. Stacked stone surrounds the fireplace creating a large, textural fireplace surround structure.
A wide room made multiple seating areas possible. Putting two sofas back-to-back to accomplish seating while keeping access to the deck unprohibited. Splattered pattern rugs soften the hickory hardwood floors and create a mirror image in the seating spaces. A rustic fireplace surround creates a grand separation between the two balcony access doors.
The sofa is a key element in a living room’s design. It anchors the space and provides a place for the family or guests to come together. A matching red leather love seat helps define the room around the coffee table and facing the flatscreen television. Above the TV, large silver globes create a unique, 3D decorative element to draw the eye.
Tall wooden ceilings create a spacious feel in this neutral, rustic living room. A stone fireplace surround extends from floor to ceiling adding a nice rough texture to the space. A chandelier counters offering a delicate touch. The animal hide rug is perfect for the design style, and a pair of Victorian armchairs add an interesting pattern.
From the entrance to this open plan living room, you can see several sitting areas, a television and entertainment center, an exposed brick fireplace, and recessed lighting. Skylights above the sofa let in additional natural light.
A fireplace in a bathroom? What luxury! This spa-like, ranch-style space is adorned with rustic accents yet feels warm and comfortable. Original stone walls and a chimney are complemented by contemporary elements such as the tile shower and patterned tile floors.
A traditional wood-burning fireplace gets a makeover with this large marble tile. The gray grain of the stone brings an elegant and natural touch, which is complemented by the elegance of the white couch and red & white backless settee.
The open feel of this living room is accented beautifully with light neutrals and soft blue and green accents. A decorative coffee table with green diamond fabric is situated on a blue and green rug, and a pair of unique metallic stools sits in front of the white stone fireplace.
The goal with the fireplace was to create an architectural feature with enough visual weight to balance the large scale of the room and trusses. Incorporating industrial and rustic materials, including corten steel, rebar rods and angle iron, was also a key element of the design to tie together the home. The lighting through the pattern casts dramatic shadows across the golden walls, which were upholstered in burlap and then painted over for texture.
