A large, stylish kitchen is the perfect relaxing space for the family to cook together, enjoy their meals and entertain their friends. White cabinets around the main section of the kitchen keep the space light and bright, while the blue, arabesque tile adds a splash of muted color. To add contrast and counter space, designers installed a kitchen island whose color scheme is the opposite of the rest of the kitchen-dark cabinets and white countertops-to add interest and create a transition between the kitchen and dining areas.
A long, skylight floods this top floor hangout room with natural light. Floor-to-ceiling wraparound bookshelves give lots of space for storage and displaying treasures. The dark wood minimizes the presence of the television.
To balance the more contemporary features of the room, the architects added charming, traditional molding around the windows. A freestanding tub completes the design, giving the owners room to relax after a long day outside.
