At the edge of this lakeside home, a modern fire pit waits at the ready for an evening spent toasting marshmallows. Where the fire pit's stone facade naturally complements the surrounding deck, its streamlined surface allows for enjoying sweeping views of the lake.
This outdoor kitchen features a lakeside view and grill unit, with a pergola over head providing some shade. The grill unit has extended countertops and lots of storage space. An island breakfast bar sits in the middle with high chairs for sitting and watching the sunrise as you enjoy your breakfast.
Many of the residential properties on this lake have a boat dock. The Houghtons bought two lots, making room for a boat dock AND a second "party deck" (this was their wish, in two words!). So HGID designed this as a floating lounge, literally - comfy upholstered seating areas with a huge TV, swimming dock (they're wake boarding fanatics) and wet bar complete with a kegerator (they're fanatical for beer). Everything is upholstered in Sunbrella, including the outdoor drapery, which all gets a heavy hose-down in advance of every visit. The couple and their guests can nap, lounge, party and relax there. We're told the lake is a jet ski drag strip on the weekends, so good spectator seating!
The Huston Family Estate, situated on 25 acres of deeded land, is one of a very few number of privately owned properties in the Chilko Valley. It is located approximately two miles from Chilko Lake on a private and scenic 10-acre lake.
Evening light highlights the gorgeous sunset view over the lake from this enchanting modern swimming pool with negative edge. In water lights give the pool water a blue glow against the neutral tones of the patio. Fire bowls add extra glow and compliment the warm lighting from the interior.
This outdoor kitchen features a grill and cooktop sitting on a tiled patio with a lakeside view. An island breakfast bar sits in the middle with iron high chairs perfect for watching the sunrise as you eat your breakfast.
A love of color and a collection of Suzani blankets inspired the palette and design of this eclectic library. A pair of classic wing chairs is perfectly sited to take advantage of lakeside views. Two shimmering garden stools sub as ottomans to bring in a bit of bling.
Are we poolside or lakeside? In his redesign of this Mediterranean-inspired, lakeside villa, Jason Brownlee keeps us guessing by creating the illusion of a continuous flow of water. The pool, at its 13-foot elevation from the lake, was oriented to the lakefront beyond with a reflective, infinity-edge pool using an overflow perimeter system that allows water to fall to lower basins below, while seeming to sit flush against the upper patio floor. The effect is dramatic yet inviting for family and friends to relax and enjoy the spectacular view.
