The Asian style gazebo and koi pond in the back yard that John Colaneri and Anthony Carrino from HGTV's Cousins on Call, have built for the Park family. This gazebo gives the Parks the perfect, serene space to relax and getaway from their everyday lives.
This custom pavilion sits gracefully on the back of this large Koi pond, shallow enough for kids to play in and deep enough for a private collection of Koi. Native granite boulders and marginal plant material enhances the natural setting while helping to maintain the clarity of the water.
The Asian style gazebo and koi pond in the back yard that John Colaneri, and Anthony Carrino from HGTV's "Cousins on Call" have built for the Park family, is a place for the family to relax and enjoy. Before, their backyard had no shade, pond or landscaping. It was an unused space that could not be enjoyed.
A small cedar arbor over the gate creates an entryway into the backyard. By adding various plant types that bloom during different times of the year, the homeowners have a new experience each season. The dwarf mondo grass in between the stepping stones acts as a sponge to soak up any water left standing. Spreading juniper in front of the koi pond provides cover for the filter and pump compartments.
The semi-radius stone work above the pond picks up on an architectural element found in another part of the home’s garden. Water is heard as it gently pours from a hand-chiseled stone rill into an elongated pool. Filled with koi and water lilies in bloom, the water reflects the sky above, surrounding trees and plants.
The client wanted to incorporate the feel of an Italian grotto fountain into the design. In this location, Harold Leidner Landscape Architects was able to take advantage of the natural grade change of the site and the finished grade of the house. The difference between these two grades allowed for a retaining wall to become the fountain wall.
A gravel patio surrounds the elegant koi pond and stone benches are place throughout the space to enjoy the water. Filled with koi and water lilies in bloom, the water reflects the sky above, surrounding trees and plants.
What a peaceful place to enjoy some company. This outdoor design includes a small sitting area with rocking chairs and a fire pit. A koi pond runs directly beside the sitting space to contribute to the tranquil setting.
Antique stone pavers reclaimed from China cap the knee walls, act as floating steps and as coping on the benches. The aged patina is impossible to reproduce since it comes from hundreds of years of use and adds a historical permanence to the garden. Water is heard as it gently pours from a hand-chiseled stone rill into an elongated pool. Filled with koi and water lilies in bloom, the water reflects the sky above, surrounding trees and plants.
Beautiful flowering plants and manicured hedges surround the sophisticated crushed gravel patio and koi pond. Hand-stacked stone above the waterfall mimic architectural elements found in other parts of the garden.
