This homeowner created a clever, crafty activity station from an old wooden dining table and a mixing bowl that serves as a place for storing crayons and other items. White wooden chairs decoupaged in repurposed maps add an interesting vibe to the otherwise neutral space.
Narrow white floating shelves let books and games become part of the colorful decor in this girl's room. Paired with a white, child-sized table and brightly patterned wallpaper, it's a happy place to spend an afternoon.
Like sun rays, a yellow chevron print stretches its way across the ceiling of this kids room. A textured area rug reminiscent of grass brings the outside in, while the hanging birdcage chair adds a fun place for reading or daydreaming.
Once he's done with homework, the kiddo can grab a book and curl up in this cool bubble chair! The designers added white and silver upholstered “pixels” to protect the walls and give the corner a video-game feel. The Warhol-inspired art makes a fun addition as well.
Yellow striped walls create a lively background for bursts of red, green and blue decor. An elegant bed crown sweeps over a small white daybed. Red and white striped bedding and a matching ottoman complement the striped pattern of the yellow walls. A small upholstered chair made from the same fabric as the bed crown serves as comfortable seating for both humans and dolls.
Save your old mailbox, even if it has a bit of rust. Designer Janna Allbritton reused a discarded mailbox and crate to fill out a mantel and to display dried flowers, a Bible and a small succulent in a pot. "Use the unexpected to create levels and keep the eye moving for a great eye-catching vignette. Old books, a chippy step-stool, an antique box, or a child's chair are great items to start with ... this will give you a great framework from which to build," she says.
This child's white playroom area features high cabinets, a low shelf with plastic storage bins, a low table with a large roll of paper for coloring, and white Eames chairs that are just the right size for kids.
An Eames chair, a modern desk and a chalkboard wall blend to form a great space for kids to let their imaginations run wild. A hanging bubble chair is a tempting spot to read, and contemporary shelves store books and toys. A polka-dot rug ties together the room's palette and adds a fun finishing touch to the contemporary space.
A bright kids' room features a play station made by cutting down an old kitchen table and adding a mixing bowl to the center for art supplies and pencils. A fresh coat of green paint and child-sized chairs decoupaged with maps complete the space.
