Designed to be a family room area where all the neighborhood kids will gather on movie night, this space needed to be durable and beautiful. The window seat with its easy-to-clean laminated fabric creates a cozy and sunny reading area and allows for additional movie viewing. The custom-made media cabinet hides all the kids toys, board games and AV equipment.
Bright-colored chairs and accessories liven up this kid-friendly living space. An area rug defines the sitting area, complete with a wall-mounted TV, while a nearby bookcase offers easily accessible storage and display space.
The playroom is designed for both kids and adults. A small table and chairs, train table, a soft area rug and low bookcase is kid friendly, while an elegant chandelier, comfortable sectional and pretty decor, like the printed window treatments, gives the space a grown-up feel.
This work space area offers a place for the Fuchs children to do their homework on the floating desk suspended by steel cables. Before the renovation, this area was the kitchen, as seen on Fixer Upper.
With a reconfigured floor plan, the once a small kitchen gained a functional desk area. Perfect for kids to do homework or parents to pay bills, the office area has plenty of storage to keep paperwork organized.
The kid's bathroom at HGTV Dream Home 2014 combines durable neutral materials with bright, kid-friendly touches. An area containing the commode, shower and stainless steel hooks for clothing and towels can be closed off from the rest of the space. A glass door makes the space-saving shower seem larger.
In the nursery, bookshelves are hung low so that they are easily accessible to the homeowners' small children. They display a great collection of colorful books that draws the eye and beckons kids to open their minds to adventure. To top off the space, the word "Book Worm", made of wooden letters covered in pages to an old children's book, makes this area of the nursery a little more fun.
