"When our client decided they needed more space, we took an unusual approach," says designer Kerrie Kelly of Kerrie Kelly Design Lab. "We transformed their dated garage and turned it into a family-oriented lounge full of color and personality. The white rafters and ceiling keep it feeling open and spacious while the stripes add a fun sophistication. The new garage door even lets in natural light!"
Designer Kerrie Kelly makes use of the cabinetry by hiding helpful amenities, like a wine refrigerator and recycling center, in them. Also, tucked inside one of the flip-down drawer fronts is a laptop/phone/iPod charging station.
Kerrie Kelly's inspiration for this snappy living room seems reflective of yesteryear, as she imbues the room with touches of 1950s' aesthetics. The conversation pit in yellow, white entertainment cabinet, industrial-style light fixture and wood credenza help to make for a happy, sophisticated and functional composition.
A trio of stainless steel pendants hangs above the large island. To eliminate having a seam, designer Kerrie Kelly finds one large granite slab to use for the island countertop. In addition, the island features drawers for storage on one side, while the other three sides are tiled to add interest.
Pale orange walls blend with brown wood cabinetry in this transitional kitchen by designer Kerrie Kelly. A dark wood floor runs throughout, and a trio of pendant lights hang above a kitchen island. The seating along the kitchen island faces the gorgeously green outdoor view, which becomes the real star of the space.
Designer Kerrie Kelly's creative juices were flowing when she designed this ultra-cool living room in shades of yellow, gray and white. The room is reminiscent of a 1950's lounge, but with a slightly industrial flair, given the lighting fixtures, table and chairs and whitewashed brick accent wall. The space invites one to sit down, relax and have a cup of joe.
Designer Kerrie Kelly updated this living space with a club-like look using color, texture and modern furnishings. The sitting area, created with four matching accent chairs in yellow and a center coffee table in wood, invites family and guests to gather for good conversation or perhaps a night of games. The cool gray tones of the tray ceiling, industrial light fixtures and whitewashed brick add dimension and contrast against the sleek furnishings.
Designer Kerrie Kelly designed an unusual retreat for this living room by setting a dining area against the back brick wall of the room, complete with chairs and a built-in banquette. The table, chairs and light fixture have an industrial feel but work well with the more modern chairs and coffee table that reside on the other side of the room. The look is reminiscent of a 1950s supper club, which produces a whimsical feeling for family and friends.
A royal blue kitchen island offers a sharp but elegant contrast to the softly colored blue kitchen with white cabinetry and backsplash. Red and gold accents add a touch of holiday charm, making this cozy kitchen ready for company.
Wishbones serve as both the decor theme and cookie inspiration for the holiday spread in this inviting, blue and white kitchen. A marble countertop on the island offers an elegant backdrop for the gold accents of the snack and beverage display.
An arched doorway leads into this elegant, understated dining room. A table for eight sits atop a beautiful hardwood floor, with a wall-length painting hanging parallel to the table. The room is full of natural light thanks to numerous windows, including high square windows.
Vintage skis and an old-fashioned sled frame the space above the comfortable, tufted leather sofa in this traditional living room. The Christmas tree is trimmed classically with ribbon and bulb ornaments but features a contemporary marquee sign-inspired star at the top.
