Matt and Samantha had expressed an affinity for natural wood so Joanna incorporated it in several places throughout the design. Included are two end tables custom created by Matt's grandfather in his wood shop in Overland Park, Kansas.
Landscape architect Colwell Shelor transformed an exposed, conventional brick house on a hill into a bold, modern residence and garden united with the prairie in Dodge City, Kansas. The water feature brings clean lines and a calming element to the award-winning outdoor space.
You're greeted by this steel rod screen as soon as you walk in the door of this midcentury modern house. Softer than a solid wall, the rods allow light to carry through beyond the foyer. The screen's box shelf holds keys and mail, while the two detached ottomans provide a place to take off your shoes. Design by Matthew Hufft, creative director, Hufft Projects, Kansas City, Missouri.
The kitchen is the heart of any home, and for these Kansas homeowners, this space is no exception. The warm tones of the backsplash and the cabinets in the space make the kitchen inviting, while the large window over the kitchen sink allows plenty of natural light into the space to make it brighter. Modern bar stools under a large island give the family a place to gather and prepare their food and make their memories.
