Marian Parsons uses upholstery webbing, glittered chipboard letters, plus sprigs of greenery and red berries to create this vintage-inspired holiday banner and wreath. "German glass glitter makes these letters sparkle and will tarnish over time to give the banner a vintage look," she says.
With upgraded luxury appliances, extensive counter space and seating for four at the island, this gourmet kitchen offers a peaceful, modern and luminous setting to spend that quality time with loved ones.
To add instant personality to the mantel, include a graphic. Here, a simple holiday message — "JOY" — is added along the front of a reclaimed piece of wood by hammering small nails as letter outlines, then weaving string around the nails to create the letters.
This asymmetrical mantel display has a lively vibe and message. You can find affordable letters at arts and crafts stores to create a word, such as "Joy," or phrase that's meaningful to you and paint the letters in a metallic or any color you wish. This room was designed by Julie Montgomery of Julie Montgomery Interiors as part of home makeovers for families by the nonprofit Dwell with Dignity Atlanta. The mantel previously held a mishmash of books and frames.
