It takes a lot to stand out on very crowded wine shelves these days. So like movie trailers and posters, wineries are doing what they can to distinguish their vino from the pack. The Walking Dead Wines, in addition to tapping into that television show's loyal fan base, also feature distinctive labels that talk back when you download the accompanying app.
The largest challenge this project presented can't be seen at first glance, but sits just below the surface of the garden. In order to preserve the reflecting pond and associated eco-systems from washing out, the landscape architects needed to capture the surface water from several surrounding neighbors and divert it underground. The result is an outdoor space that seems effortless, yet is entirely innovative.
Okay, how cool is this? A water feature runs right through the kitchen island! Guests eating at the counter will love the innovative design, while those in the sitting area will enjoy its calming sounds.
“Innovative storage solutions were key to making the most of every room in this waterfront cottage,” says designer Elizabeth Swartz. “This included the use of some wonderful hardware, such as this Hafele pull-out unit in the master bath to organize even the smallest of spaces efficiently.”
To ensure that this space can be used year-round, the design team installed a motorized louvered patio cover that can be closed to keep out harsh weather. Meanwhile, a bell-side table becomes another innovative element, as it doubles as a wine-chilling station.
Ipe decking, a type of Brazilian hardwood, is used for a wide set of stairs leading onto a screened porch designed by Clark Harris of Innovative Construction, based in Roswell, Ga. Pocket doors maximize the porch space and create a unique entryway.
A hip roof design can still accommodate ceiling fans, such as these fans hanging from a cedar ceiling designed by Innovative Construction. The color of the fans matches the wicker furniture and contrasts with the lighter ceiling and walls.
This metro Atlanta deck is designed and constructed by Innovative Construction, based in Roswell, Ga. Stairs made of pressure-treated pine railings and black steel pickets lead from a screened porch to the backyard.
Black steel pickets contrast with the pressure-treated pine selected for a set of stairs extending from a screened back porch to the yard. Innovative Construction, based in Roswell, Ga., designed the outdoor living space and stairs.
To add a unique architectural element to the screened porch designed and built by Innovative Construction, metro Atlanta homeowner Jonathan Berger was inspired by a fan he saw on the HBO series, "Boardwalk Empire." He found the Duplo-Dinamico rotational ceiling fan by Matthews Fan Co., and chose the black finish because it looked more authentically retro and matched his home's exterior accent color.
