The first step in winterizing a spa is deciding if you want to close it down for the season or enjoy sitting in hot water surrounded by snow. If you opt for winter tubbing, review your manual’s instructions for use in freezing weather. Most spas have a freeze protection system. You may also need to set the spa’s auto heat mode to cycle on and off to keep water warm. A tight fitting cover prevents energy loss and keeps the heat where it belongs—in the water. Clean and drain the spa before cold weather arrives so it’s ready for winter use.
The design goal for this backyard? Create a quiet escape for meditating and relaxing. Fragrant plants are the inviting screen around an in-ground hot tub. Nearby, a fire pit is at the heart of a sitting area.
The client’s wish list packed a lot into a 15' x 32' enclosed backyard: a dining area, firepit, grill, six-person spa, seating area and outdoor shower. The solution executed by Jeff Troyer Associates was an exotic hardwood deck and fire wall with a mini outdoor kitchen separating the deck from the hot tub.
A floating wood bench is mounted on a stone base wall and padded with black throw pillows. Black, bowl-shaped fire pits placed near the bench break up the empty space leading to the in-ground hot tub. Standing lanterns add a touch of decoration and functionality for evening lighting. Trees and plants surround the area creating natural privacy and adding color.
This state of the art spa and expansive koi pond with waterfall flank the patio and create a focal point for the space. Attention to details like LED lighting and features like the fire bowls really help this space come alive after the sun goes down. An extended covered patio features an outdoor dining and living space for full comfort.
A covered outdoor living room moves seamlessly to the uncovered patio section for a full outdoor living experience. Light stone exterior and dark wood details create a gorgeous, calm color combination for a sophisticated design. The patio steps down to an in-ground hot tub creating levels and intrigue in the design.
The, smooth modern swimming pool is built into the yard and surrounded by grass for a pond-like feel. A stone patio features an in-ground hot tub. Lounge chairs and ornamental grass are shaded by turquoise umbrellas adding a touch of color.
Sunlight and the overflow of water have a beautifully reflective quality over the iridescent tile on this inviting hot tub. Below the hot tub, an in-ground pool is lined with a soft garden and glass balcony walls. A fountain flows into the pool from a built in outdoor dining and fireplace structure.
